Today students in the Red, Yellow and Blue classes will bringing home the fourth in a series of Student Guides.
These are intended to assess, along with class discussions, your student's level of understanding of the assigned reading, and carry a rather significant value to their grade. The goal is to provide your student the opportunity to demonstrate their comprehension of the reading a number of different ways.
The current Student Guide covers Where the Red Fern Grows Chapters VIII through XIV. This part of the book can be seen as the second of three larger sections, which is how we have been working with the novel to this point.
The activities included in Student Guide 4, and corresponding point values, are broken down in the following manner:
Eight student-generated Chapter Titles = 10 pointsThe completed packet, and loose-leaf with short answer responses and essay, is due at the end of the next class.
Nineteen Multiple Choice Questions = 20 points
One Venn diagram = 14 points
Four Short Answer Questions worth 5 points each = 20 points
One Essay = 20 points
Quality of Effort & Timeliness = 11 points
