Introduction to Unit 4

Beginning this week, students will start work on our fourth unit of study for the school year. As in previous units, students will expected to read a novel independently, as well as, respond to specific prompts relating to the assigned pages in their Reading Journals.

Additionally, students ill be working with some short stories and poems which align with the units theme of Choices & Decisions. Once again we will be focusing our study of these literary pieces using two essential questions:

"How can the decisions an individual makes change his/her life?
What do the decisions a person makes reveal about their character?"
In order to insure success for your student, please be sure that they continue to have a Reading Journal (in most cases a composition book), a folder for use only with ELA class, index cards and loose-leaf paper. I look forward to sharing more with you as we move into the unit together...

Read Up and Write On!
