Upon our return to class on Monday, April 21, we will "officially" start our last quarter of the school year. For some students who saw their effort (and grades) drop off in the Third Quarter, this will be the start of an opportunity to recapture past glory of excellent grades and superior effort.
While these next ten weeks will be filled with schedule glitches due to state assessments, class trips and fire drills, we will be working both in and out of class on a number of activities. Following completion of Unit 4 classwork with the independent reading of "The Un-Numbing of Cory Willhouse" by Virgnia Euwer Wolff, there are a few projects and activities which will bring us to our culminating activity.
Upcoming work will include:
1. Continued work with specific Poetic Forms in the Student Writer's Journals. Please check back daily for updated homework assignments.
2. Creation of individual Chapbook of student-generated poetry using previously drafted pieces from the Writer's Journal.
3. Reading of selected portions of The Red Pony by John Steinbeck.
4. Continued work on finalizing the Student Portfolio, including a reflective essay.
Read Up and Write On!
