New Marking Period, New Novel(la)!

Beginning this week, student's will beginning working with the novella, The Red Pony by John Steinbeck.

A classic coming of age story, the episodic series of stories follows the experiences of a young boy living on a ranch in the California mountains toward the end of the Great Depression. The memorable characters include the boy's impatient father; his grandfather, once "the leader of the people;” and the hired hand whom the boy believes to be invincible.

Students will be working with the anchor text in class, while completing a series of activities intended to reinforce an understanding of character, setting, theme, as well as, an appreciation for Steinbeck's descriptive writing style.
