YIPPEE--RAFTs Returned!

WOW! What a great job our students did!

Students will have their "published" RAFT letters returned to them in class on either Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on which class they are part of. All final drafts were graded using the six point rubric, which is how their writing ability will be evaluated on the New York State Assessment. Of the 90% of our team who turned in a "product" none scored lower than a 4!

What is a "4"? When checking the score sheet attached to your student's drafts, you will notice that their grade is not a 100 points, B+, or 76%, but rather will be a cumulative score along the range of "6" (Exceeds Standards) to "1" (Does Not Meet Standards). Students who failed to turn in any final drafts earned a "0". For a student to have earned a "6," not only would their work have had to meet the highest standard set for all five Criteria, but they would have also had to have word-processed their final draft and submitted both drafts together.

Students will be bringing these home for you to review, sign and return for inclusion in their folder of class work kept in our room. Graded class work will eventually be used in updating the Student portfolios begun last year.
