Shout Out: Ian B.!

"Eat your vegetables. Don't just push 'em around, eat 'em. I ain't playin'!"~from the film version of the novella I Am Legend.
Some books, like some vegetables are hard to "choke" down. (Beets and bokchoy, come to mind.) Discovering a writer or book to enjoy is like finding exotic foods to savor... sometimes it takes a while, but it is worth the challenge!

As most are aware, a new film version of I Am Legend starring Will Smith came out over recess, and one student discovered that it was in fact based upon an existing ("old") book by Richard Matheson. I was very pleasantly surprised to read Ian's Reading Journal last weekend and discover his new found appreciation for the book, as well as, his willingness to discuss that additional chapters which were not in the movie (and he enjoyed less!). Based on Ian's recommendation, I'll be trying to read the "real" version, the book, as soon as I can.

Great work, Ian!

Read Up and Write On!
