Basketball. Auditions. Step Team. Wrestling. Church Youth Group.
All these are important activities that I am so grateful to have so many of our students involved in; many of whom are involved in more than one on any given day! Another activity that all students will be participating in this week at school is taking part in taking the New York State ELA 8 Assessment.
In an effort to take this opportunity to "show what they know" to the highest level of their considerable ability, some of the same steps one takes before a big game or recital are helpful for students to remember here.
The most important things one can do at this point is to maintain healhty habits, for example:
Review the hints that your teacher has given you.Read Up and Write On!
Ask questions of the teacher that you may still have.
Eat a good dinner the night before.
Get a good night's sleep.
Enjoy a breakfast the day of--having food in your stomach will give you energy and help you focus, but avoid heavy foods which can make you groggy!
Keep a positive attitude throughout and try to stay relaxed, if you start to feel nervous take a few deep breaths to relax.
